Burn the wish

In 2011, les Disques Lexi joined the Pneu crew for good, had a new website (by master Duby – and btw his new album under the moniker Jesus is My Son is beautiful), made t-shirts and bags with City Hands / Manuel Padding, organised a couple of shows with friends, was the female guest of Lo-fi Stories – i guess i love being with people after all – and released 1 (one!) record. I know. Hopefully, 2012 will focus again on this last part. First release to come is by Banana Head / Zully Adler, the young man behind the Goaty Tapes label. He’ll be around in Europe in Spring and i guess we’ll have a chance to see him playing at that time. Pneu is back in business too: after a couple of years of brilliant parties, a record is on its way. We survived the end of the year celebrations, we can enjoy the night again: On Thursday, Popol Gluant and Mulan Serrico are playing at the Student and Dream Beverly Hills takes his turn at the Hectoliter Galerij on Saturday. At the end of this month, Radio Panik is back at Recyclart!

Wow it’s been so many months i haven’t been on this blog, i almost forgot it was there.

This year again, Lexi is at the Beau-Beau market! I’ll have Lexi 7-inches but also of course Pneu (the label, not the band) releases and a bunch of friends records. And on Sunday, Beau-Beau gave a carte blanche to Lexi for a musical afternoon.

Voilà le programme / The programm is:

14h00: Aspen Tigers dj set – Jacques dN et David LS nous concoctent une sélection alliant l’obscur et le brillant. Sans conteste possible, champions de ping-pong double messieurs de la saison.

16h00: TG (Be/Fr) – 100 % des sondés me l’ont confirmé, TG Gondard Thibault n’ a jamais été aussi bon qu’en ce moment. C’est trop bête, le 45 tours sorti sur Lexi a déjà bien 18 mois. On se console en concert.

17h00: Girl Seeker (Denmark) – La révélation pop danoise de cet été! Les mauvaises langues invoquent Ariel Pink mais c’est un peu court. Donc, oui, il y aura de la mélodie, des sentiments, des paroles, du coeur, une belle spontanéité et une totale absence de conscience de soi. Et puis, et puis, peut-être autre chose… C’est la première fois à Bruxelles et ça ne pourra être que beau. Une beauté avec un fameux twist.

Tout est gratuit (les films, les concerts mais pas les disques), c’est à la place Royale, ce dimanche 18 septembre, celui ‘sans voiture’.

Finnish free form rock unit AVARUS celebrate their 10 years of activity by embarking on a tour in continental Europe… Catch the fever! AVARUS is a highly rated entity in the realms of avant-rock, improv and free-folk. The collective from the city of Tampere consists of an ever evolving cast of musicians from the Finnish underground (active in groups such as Kiila and Kemialliset Ystävät) and have released their weirdly twisted, puzzling and exciting outings on labels such as HP Cycle, Secret Eye, Lal Lal Lal, Ultra Eczema and Arbor. The line up in which Avarus will tour Europe this spring includes several members from the scene surrounding Fonal Records, as well as Jeffrey Alexander from American bands Black Forest/Black Sea and Dire Wolves. On this tour Avarus will be joined by one-man band JARSE, a member of Shogun Kunitoki (Fonal records) and MIK QUANTIUS, who has played with legendary Kraut rockers Embryo.

This week DJ Dog Dick and his young friend Sewn Leather are playing at the Student café in Brussels. Dream Beverly Hills is at the DNA and Karel opens its yearly ball on Wednesday with Eric Thielemans (if you want to know where, you can contact me). Duby made me a brand new site because i’m totally spastic when it comes to do something decent visually. Speaking of which I will spend next weekend in Den Haag printing t-shirts with City Hands. We’ll close this hopefully productive weekend with a JD Emmanuel concert.

I’m very proud and happy to announce the release of a new single on Lexi!

Anne Laplantine is a french electronic composer active since the late nineties, also known as Michiko Kusaki and Angelika Köhlermann. She also have a fantastic netlabel.

Release party will take place at la Compilothèque in Brussels on the 15th of April. It’s the right time to announce the union between Pneu and Lexi and it’s the first time we organize a party together. Anne Laplantine will draw (but won’t be on stage), Welttraumforscher will sing, Sunny Disposition and Madame Patate will play and Die Tochter and the crew will dj. It will be a happy and sweet evening.

Soirée Kinder 3 en 1: Une fête, une nouvelle sortie et une union. Le nouveau single Lexi est signé Anne Laplantine. Gwénola Carrère a fait la pochette (et enfin un logo!), mix master Fred A. s’est occupé du son, c’est le premier disque qui sort sous la bannière Lexi/Pneu, il est à la croisée des chemins. Anne Laplantine va dessiner, il y aura des concerts et de la musique et des cocktails! La bonne ambiance!
